Job Overview:
The CAD Detailer is responsible for creating accurate 3D models and 2D drawings for light-frame, timber frame, and mass timber projects, including shop drawings, joinery details, and production plans. Working closely with architects, engineers, project managers, shop staff, installers, and suppliers, this role helps maintain design intent, resolve drawing discrepancies, and support smooth project delivery.Key Responsibilities:
Produce detailed 3D models and 2D CAD drawings for light-frame, timber frame, and mass timber components, including shop drawings, joinery details, and production plans.
Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, internal project managers, shop staff, installers, trades, and suppliers to maintain design intent and ensure smooth project delivery.
Prepare accurate material take-offs, and optimized loading and assembly plans.
Review architectural and structural drawings, identify conflicts or discrepancies, and propose practical solutions.
Support the development of BIM models and integrate them into ITF project workflows.
Maintain and update the CAD library, ensuring consistent detailing standards and connection details.
Assist with project documentation, RFIs, change orders, scheduling inputs, and basic estimating tasks.
Carry out related duties as required to support project execution.Qualifications & Skills:
Experience with CADwork (preferred) or similar 3D modeling platforms - Sema, Dietrich, HSB CAD, Solidworks (used for Timber Modeling)
Experience with Rhino, Catia, or Revit is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, or equivalent tools.
Ability to interpret and visualize architectural and engineering drawings quickly and accurately.
Background in timber construction, mass timber, or prefabrication.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving ability.
Knowledge of timber engineering principles, timber joinery, connection systems, and shop fabrication workflows.
Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to manage timelines, prioritize work, and operate independently with minimal supervision.
Professional written and verbal communication skills when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
